Loading Dock Relocation

Manufacturer can stay in their ideal location

Problem: The new light rail line running down the center of the street eliminated truck access to this manufacturer’s loading dock. It was important for the owner to stay in this location but the owner and light rail agency didn’t see any option other than relocating the business and changing use of the property.

How Martyn helped: Martyn found a cure to the problem by moving the loading dock to the alley side of the building. That meant building a ramp from the second floor manufacturing area down to the first floor grade in the alley. The ramp and dock also had to be protected from weather. Martyn prepared a preliminary design for the cure and the cost to cure for this work which was later completed by the owner’s designer and contractor. The light rail agency provided the funds to perform the work.

The manufacture was able to remain in their desired location and the light rail agency avoided costly relocation expenses.
